About this litter:
Double Merle's are not to be confused as a genetic defect. It is the doubling of the Merle gene on that particular puppy that have the white effect as well as possible sight/hearing issues.
This litter has been in the making for 2 years. I chose to wait til the timing was right for me as this would be a higher risk litter.
What I mean by high risk is this: Cassie is a Sable Merle, Logan is a Blue Merle. Merle to Merle breedings usually result in 1 or more Double Merle puppies. Double Merles have a higher risk of being blind or Deaf and rarely, Both. There is also the chance taht they will have both sight and sound. One will not know til they are a bit older. A Breeding like this can be an asset to a breeding program due to the quality, health and temperaments of the parent dogs, which is what I was looking to gain. This type of breeding requires knowledge, time and patience on the part of the breeder. Therefore, waiting til the timing was right for me. The result from this particular litter had a higher percentage of Double Merle than one would expect. However, I am just as delighted with them regardless of there color or possible disability. As time goes, I will learn more about each one and post updates. In the meantime, If you have any questions or interest in one of these lil gals, I would be happy to keep you posted or discuss them with you.
